Long String (also known as “long_string”, “long_str” ) is the name of a computer virus. It has been referred to as a “tool” used by REN^[STATION_8 TERMINAL 8] and acts as a computer virus (as seen in all of it appearances). The first (known) appearance of Long String is in LONG_STR.mp4 from 23 February 2025, which demonstrates a system getting infected with the virus.
It is also likely related to INDI’s TRUTH.zip file, since it has associations with the command to run Long String, print(V83mak8.exe).

It is odd that SYSTEM was curious about how the sample was retrieved, since it was uploaded onto the 7/10 Tone channel.
Usage
Upon execution, Long String fills the screen with the phrase “INFECTED BY LONG STRING ;-)”
It isn’t known exactly what Long String was designed to do (and its effects might be considered classified information), but judging by clues contained within The Logs, it seems to be a weapon against TTH terminals.
SYSTEM has commented on the use of Long String, but couldn’t speak much about it due to restrictions placed by INDI:

On 14 November 2025, Long String was mentioned along with possibly another virus (TTH Breaker) in a community post before 7/10 Tone and possibly 7/10 NPP were completely purged of all content, indicating that Long String might not be the only virus-like subject in the 7/10 universe:
